Data Releases
The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) 2020 public-use files are available on the Public-use Data Analysis System site. The N-SSATS is an annual census designed to collect information from all facilities within the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories, both public and private, that provide substance abuse treatment. The N-SSATS provides the mechanism for quantifying the dynamic character and composition of the U.S. substance abuse treatment delivery system.
The Treatment Episode Data Set: Admissions (TEDS-A) 2000s public-use files have been updated and are available on the Public-use Data Analysis System site. In addition, the Treatment Episode Data Set: Discharges (TEDS-D) 2018 public-use files are also updated. The TEDS is a national data system of annual admissions to and discharges from substance abuse treatment facilities.

The MH-CLD and the Mental Health Treatment Episode Data Set provide information on mental health diagnoses and the mental health treatment services, outcomes, and demographic and substance use characteristics of people in mental health treatment facilities. This information comes from facilities that report to individual state administrative data systems.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration today announced the release of the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) 2019 Annual Report. This report presents national- and state-level data from the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) for admissions and discharges occurring in 2019, and trend data from 2009 to 2019. It summarizes demographic information and the characteristics and outcomes of treatment for alcohol and/or drug use among clients aged 12 years and older in facilities that report to individual state administrative data systems. Data include records for treatment admissions and discharges that were received and processed through November 3, 2020.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration today announced the release of the Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) 2019 Annual Report. This report presents results from the Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) and Mental Health Treatment Episode Data Set (MH-TEDS) for individuals receiving mental health services from state mental health systems in 2019, as well as selected trends in data collected from such individuals between 2014 and 2019. The report provides information on mental health diagnoses, mental health treatment settings, and demographic and substance use characteristics of individuals in mental health treatment in facilities that reported to individual state administrative data systems.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration today announced the release of the 2021 Q2 Quick Statistics for the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS). The Quick Statistics tool provides state profiles for TEDS, National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services, and National Mental Health Services Survey data. The TEDS is a national data system of annual admissions to and discharges from substance abuse treatment facilities.
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) Small Area Estimates (SAE) site has now been updated to include 1999-2019 state data. As part of the Public-use Data Analysis System, the NSDUH SAE tool allows users to quickly see data by state and substate areas.
