2021 Q1 Quick Statistics for TEDS

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration today announced the release of the 2021 Q1 Quick Statistics for the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS). The Quick Statistics tool provides state profiles for TEDS, National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services, and National Mental Health Services Survey data. The TEDS is a national data system of annual admissions to and discharges from substance abuse treatment facilities.

NSDUH 2019 Data Available on RDAS

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) 2-year (2018 to 2019) and 10-year substate (2010 to 2019) data sets are the latest in the NSDUH series and available to analyze in the Restricted-use Data Analysis System (RDAS). NSDUH is the primary source of statistical information on the use of tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, and illicit drugs by the U.S. civilian, noninstitutionalized population aged 12 or older. The survey also includes several series of questions that focus on mental health issues.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is pleased to announce the release of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) 2018-2019 State Data Tables and Reports. The combined 2018 and 2019 NSDUH reports provide state estimates for select measures of substance use and mental health outcomes by age group (e.g., aged 12 or older, 12 to 17, 18 to 25, and 26 or older and 12 to 20 for alcohol measures). NSDUH is an annual survey of the U.S. civilian, noninstitutionalized population aged 12 years or older.

N-SSATS 2018 and 2017 Updates Available on PDAS

The National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) 2018 and 2017 public-use files have been updated and are available on the Public-use Data Analysis System site. The N-SSATS is an annual census designed to collect information from all facilities within the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories, both public and private, that provide substance abuse treatment. The N-SSATS provides the mechanism for quantifying the dynamic character and composition of the U.S. substance abuse treatment delivery system.

MH-CLD 2018 Available on SAMHDA

The Mental Health Client-Level Data (MH-CLD) 2018 public-use files are available on the SAMHDA site. The MH-CLD and the Mental Health Treatment Episode Data Set provide information on mental health diagnoses and the mental health treatment services, outcomes, and demographic and substance use characteristics of people in mental health treatment facilities. This information comes from facilities that report to individual state administrative data systems.
